Announced Sunday, June 29, 2007. On June 24, 2007, the Session approved the recommendation of the Interim Pastor Search Committee and called the Rev. Dr. Robert Murphy as Southminster’s Interim Pastor/ Head of Staff. Dr. Murphy is currently serving as the Interim Pastor/Head of Staff at St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Houston. Dr. Murphy has faithfully served St. John’s since January 2007. As the congregation prepares to call an installed pastor his interim ministry at St John’s will be ending on or about July 15. Prior to his time at St. John’s, Dr. Murphy served for six years as co-pastor/head of staff at Trinity Presbyterian Church, a congregation of 600 members in Fairhope, Alabama. Dr. Murphy served Fairhope as co-pastor with his wife, Laurey, an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament, who was called to serve as Pastor of Spring Branch Presbyterian Church in the Fall of 2006. Prior to that time, he served for eight years as pastor/head of staff at First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville, South Carolina, 500 members, three years as associate pastor at Government Street Presbyterian Church in Mobile Alabama, 700 members, and five years as pastor at Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Dothan, Alabama. Please be in prayer for Dr. Murphy as he says goodbye to his congregation at St. John’s and prepares to begin his ministry at Southminster on August 1, 2007. |
