URGENT - URGENT - URGENT - URGENT The holiday season should be a joyous time of year, but for many families in Fort Bend County the holidays can be a time of added stress and despair.
To help brighten this holiday season for our neighbors, East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, Inc. is preparing again this year to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets for families in need within East Fort Bend County. As most of you are aware, East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry provides Holiday Food Baskets to those in need within our community for both the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Last year, the Ministry’s Food Pantry contributed 578 Holiday Food Baskets that helped feed over 2,500 people. This year we hope to provide Holiday Baskets to 600 families. The success of this program relies heavily upon continued support from our member congregations. If your congregation can help out by holding a Food Drive please give us a call at 281-261-1006, or email connie@humanneeds.org. Donations are welcomed as well. Each Holiday Baskets costs approximately $50 (turkey included!). Volunteers are also needed. Please email or call for more information. Volunteers are needed to help distribute food at the Food Pantry on the 4th Thursday of the month each month, 8:30am—12Noon. Please call Don Sykes (281-437-6463) to volunteer. The success of the Holiday Food Basket program relies heavily upon the continued support from the community. Please remember the Food Pantry when you do your holiday shopping. The East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry is located at 425 Stafford Run Rd., Stafford, Texas 77477 off of Avenue E between Murphy Rd and Hwy. 90A. This new ten thousand square foot building has opened the door for new programs to be developed such as literacy classes, job training and credit counseling. This location houses not only the Financial Assistance offices, but also the Food Pantry and Resale Shop. The Ministry has grown over 75% during the last 10 years increasing the number of families and services provided in the East Fort Bend community. The Ministry’s primary purpose is to provide emergency food and financial assistance to those in need in the East Fort Bend area. The Tri-City Churches Resale Shop is also a vital and important part of our ministry. Clients are referred to other area agencies as needed for additional services. Funding for the programs come from grants, individual donations, local civic organizations and financial support from our member congregations. Also proceeds from the Resale Shop provide an important role in helping fund these programs. The Ministry has a wonderful group of hard-working, committed volunteers who sort and bag food donations, screen potential clients for food and financial assistance and help in the Resale Shop. New volunteers are always welcomed! Come visit the facility and shop at the Resale Shop. All donations of reusable clothing and household items, cash donations for our programs and/or gift-in-kind items are greatly appreciated.
