Dear members and friends of Southminster, Your Stewardship Committee is making great plans for a new and exciting year round emphasis on the stewarding of our resources here at Southminster. We believe that it will have a profound impact your spiritual life. The program, called “LIFE CHANGING – HANDS ON STEWARDSHIP”, will embrace the broader concept of stewardship other than the usual pledging of time, talent, treasure. The gift of money and talent are very important to the life of the church but they are not the total stewardship package for your Christian growth. This emphasis is about growing toward Spiritual Maturity – growing in Christ likeness – by discovering and practicing several spiritual disciplines. This will include prayer, service to others, tithing, daily devotion, and Bible Study among others. Each of us comes to these disciplines from different places in our spiritual journey, but the result will be the same. We hope through this program you can have a closer relationship with God and a better understanding of what He has in mind for your life. This is a “life style” plan that will lead to greater spiritual maturity for YOU. As we progress through 2007, your Stewardship Committee will be offering ideas, encouragement, and reminders to help you begin to establish these disciplines in your life. In February, we will focus on prayer. Look for articles in the Signal, reminders in the bulletin, web site articles, handouts, e-mail, moments for mission and other special instruction. We urge you to join us in the “LIFE CHANGING-HANDS ON” stewardship program. It will be a journey that will closely conform our lives to Christ and honor God. Sincerely, Your Stewardship Committee Doug Earl, Bob Dempsey, Mary DuVal, Chandler Mayes, Marlene Schwer, Brandon Buell, Kent Renolds and Larry Purcell Chair
