Lara’s Legacy is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 to carry out the passions of Lara Horton Wiedenfeld.  Lara lost her life in a car accident at the age of 26.

Lara was many things to many people during her time here: daughter, sister, wife, friend, teacher, colleague, role model.  At the time of her death, she taught 4th grade at Fern Bluff Elementary in Round Rock, Texas while also serving as a Junior High Youth Advisor at Hope Presbyterian Church in Austin.

Before her move to the Austin area, she taught 4th grade at Highlands Elementary in Sugar Land and served as a Junior High Youth Advisor here at Southminster Presbyterian Church.  While there were several things that stood out about Lara, there was one quality in particular no one could miss, and that is her love for children.

Lara’s Legacy is in its early stages, but  its focus is clear:  to honor the life of Lara Horton Wiedenfeld by soliciting, receiving, and disbursing donations to qualified individuals or organizations for their use in Christian youth ministry, youth mission, and youth education activities.

To date, Lara’s Legacy has raised more than $37,000 that will be used to help young people grow in their Christian faith.
