"The Seven Last Words of Christ"

At 7:00 pm on Good Friday, April 6, the Chancel Choir and organist Jyung Kim will present the passion oratorio "The Seven last Words of Christ", by French composer Theodore Dubois (1837-1923).

This full-length musical drama is presented in eight movements:  an introduction for a soprano soloist is followed by a movement for each word that Jesus spoke from the cross.  The seven "lat word" movements alternate between powerful choruses, lyrical solos and duets as well as the combination of choir and soloists.  A vivid "orchestral-style" organ part accompanies episode.  This is a dramatic masterwork that captures the profound mix of sorrow and triumph that is the passion of our Lord.

This special music presentation promises to be a moving and reflective experience and an worshipful way to commemorate this important holy day as we look forward to the victory of Easter Sunday.  The Sanctuary usually fills quickly so come early to ensure your seat.

He is Risen!
