Nine church members were elected to the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) during the December 2nd congregation meeting. The members elected to the committee are: Mackenzie Buell, Randy Corbin, Doug Earle, Richard Early, Clara Goforth, Dan Hauschel, Nell Schwartz, Marty Ugarte, and Dorothy Watts. We, the PNC, met for the first time on December 11th. This was an organizational meeting where the Nominating Committee and the interim pastor provided general information about the pastor nominating process and the role of the PNC. The PNC members also met separately and elected Richard Early to lead the committee. Randy Corbin was elected Secretary, and Marty Ugarte and Dorothy Watts were elected to the communications team. The PNC agreed to conduct weekly meetings beginning on January 7th knowing the amount of work that lies ahead and its importance to the congregation. We ask that you please keep us in your prayers as we go through this process. We are committed to keeping the congregation informed throughout the process. We will be using many forms of communication, such as monthly articles in the Signal, Sunday bulletins, Moments for Mission, and the church website. The Presbyterian Church USA website contains a manual that provides an excellent overview of the process for the calling of a new pastor. The manual is titled, “On Calling A Pastor,” and it can be accessed freely at www.pcusa.org/clc/handbook_pastor.htm . This is the process that the PNC will be closely following in the selection of a pastor nominee. Thank you for entrusting us with this important responsibility. Your Pastor Nominating Committee
