Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC)

June Status Report

The Session affirmed the PNC's work at the April 26th Officers' Meeting that included the Session and the Deacons.  Stage 1 of the pastor search process was officially completed with this affirmation of the PNC’s mission study information and findings.  The PNC’s efforts were then directed towards Stage 2, completing the Church Information Form (CIF).

The narrative sections and the essential pastor skills section of the CIF required most of the PNC’s energies during the month of May.  To meet the CIF workload demands, the PNC workgroups were reorganized.  The former members of the Mission Study workgroup were redeployed since their work was completed.  Doug Earle and Nell Schwartz were reassigned to the CIF workgroup and Clara Goforth was reassigned to the Correspondence workgroup.  The PNC anticipates completing the first draft of the CIF during June.

The PNC will continue to communicate their progress through weekly Church Bulletins, the Narthex Bulletin Board, the Information Center, monthly Moment for Mission speakers, the PNC website, and monthly Signal articles.  The PNC will also be hosting a meeting open to the entire congregation on Sunday, June 29th at 10:15 AM.  Additional meeting details will be forthcoming shortly.

The CIF is the document that the PNC will use as Southminster's story to introduce our congregation and our sense of identity and mission to prospective pastoral candidates.  It will list the gifts, talents and abilities that are needed in the new pastor as well as provide the terms of call.  Once the CIF draft is formally approved by the Session and the Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry, it will be posted on the PCUSA website.  This will begin the active search phase of the pastor nominating process and allow the PNC to start receiving Personal Information Forms (PIFs) from prospective pastor candidates.

The PNC thanks you for entrusting them with this important responsibility and continues to ask for your prayers.
